Genesis 1:31

β€œGod saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.”

β€” Genesis 1:31 (WEB)

This verse shows us that when God finished making the world, He looked at everything and said it was very good - just like we're reviewing this week!

πŸ“¦ Materials Needed

  • toy garden items
  • fruit pictures
  • green paper
  • flower stickers
  • crayons or markers

Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to our final BibleMouse lesson this week! Let's remember what we've learned about God's wonderful world. Yesterday we talked about how God gives good gifts to Adam and Eve - and to us too!

πŸ’ Review Question: Can you remember some of the good gifts God gave to Adam and Eve?
2Teaching (5 min)

This week we learned so many wonderful things! God made a beautiful garden. He made all the animals, and Adam got to name each one. God gave Adam and Eve everything they needed. And do you know what God said when He looked at everything He made? He said it was VERY GOOD! Let's read what the Bible says: 'God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good' (Genesis 1:31, WEB).

πŸ“Œ Key Talking Points:
  • God made a perfect world with no sadness or hurt
  • Everything God makes is good because God is good
  • Adam and Eve were happy because they lived in God's good world
πŸ’¬ Discussion Questions:
  • What are some good things God made?
  • How do you think Adam and Eve felt living in God's perfect world?
3Activity: God's Good Creation Garden (6 min)
review

Create a paper garden scene while reviewing everything God made good, using the materials from this week's BibleMouse lessons.

πŸ“ Instructions:
  1. Give child the green paper as the 'ground' of their garden
  2. Let them place toy garden items and fruit pictures on the paper
  3. Add flower stickers around the garden
  4. As they create, ask them to name good things God made
  5. Draw simple faces on the fruit pictures to show how happy everything was in God's good world
πŸ”„ Variations:

Simpler: Just use stickers and let child place them while you name what God made

Challenge: Have child tell you a story about Adam and Eve in their good garden using their creation

4Closing (3 min)

Look at the beautiful garden you made! Just like God made everything good, you made something good too. God loves you and made you good too!

πŸ“ Review Questions:
  • What did God say when He looked at everything He made?
  • Can you name three good things God made?
πŸ™ Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for making everything so good and beautiful. Thank You for loving Adam and Eve, and thank You for loving me too. Amen.

Coming up: Tomorrow in our BibleMouse lesson, we'll learn something very special - God knows YOUR name! He knows everything about you and loves you so much.

Genesis 1:1

β€œGod made everything!”

β€” Genesis 1:1 (WEB)

🎯 Activity: Create hand motions: Point up to God, spread arms wide for 'everything,' then clap hands together. Practice saying it while doing a happy dance to celebrate God's good creation!

Teaching Notes

πŸ“š Background:

This review lesson helps solidify the concept that God's original creation was perfect and good. At this age, children need concrete examples of 'good' things they can see and touch. The fall hasn't been introduced yet, so focus on the goodness of God's creation.

πŸ’‘ Teaching Tips:
  • Use lots of 'good' and 'very good' language throughout the lesson
  • Let your child touch and manipulate the materials - this helps PK3 learners process information
  • If your child struggles with the concept, just focus on naming things God made
πŸ€” Common Struggles:

Some children may ask why bad things happen if God made everything good - simply say we'll learn more about that later, but focus on God's goodness today

πŸ‘€ Signs of Understanding:

Child can name at least 2-3 things God made and understands that God called His creation 'good'

Extension Activities

  • Take a nature walk and point out good things God made outside
  • Look through the BibleMouse Printables Library for creation coloring pages to reinforce the lesson
  • Sing creation songs from the BibleMouse Song Collection while looking at your garden creation

Ready for Tomorrow?

Great job completing today's lesson!
