2Teaching (5 min)

Explain that in the Bible, in Genesis 1:4-5, it says 'God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light 'day', and the darkness he called 'night'.' This means that God made the day and the night! He separated the light from the darkness.

  • What do you like to do at night?
3Activity: Day and Night Dance (6 min)
movement

Invite the children to stand up and get ready to move! When you shine the flashlight (day), they will dance and move around happily. When you turn off the flashlight (night), they will curl up and pretend to sleep.

πŸ“ Instructions:
  1. Turn on the flashlight - this is daytime!
  2. Have the children dance and move around the room
  3. Turn off the flashlight - now it's nighttime!
  4. Have the children curl up and pretend to sleep
πŸ”„ Variations:

Simpler: For younger or less active children, have them just sway back and forth during the day and gently rock during the night.

Challenge: For more active children, have them do jumping jacks during the day and tip-toe around during the night.

4Closing (3 min)

Great job, everyone! You all did such a wonderful job showing the difference between day and night. God is so amazing for creating the bright day and the dark night.
