Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse lesson! Yesterday we learned that Adam got to name all the animals - what a fun job God gave him! Today we're going to discover all the wonderful gifts God gave to Adam and Eve in their garden home.

πŸ’ Review Question: Can you remember some animals that Adam might have named yesterday?
2Teaching (5 min)

God put Adam and Eve in the most beautiful garden called Eden. Listen to what God's Word tells us: 'Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. Yahweh God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden.' God gave them everything they needed!

πŸ“Œ Key Talking Points:
  • God gave Adam and Eve a beautiful home in the garden
  • God gave them delicious food to eat from all the trees
  • God gave them important work to do - taking care of the garden
πŸ’¬ Discussion Questions:
  • What are some good gifts God gives us today?
  • How does God take care of you and your family?
3Activity: God's Gift Garden (6 min)
discussion

Create a pretend garden using the available materials while discussing all the gifts God gave Adam and Eve, then connecting to gifts God gives us today.

πŸ“ Instructions:
  1. Spread green paper on the table to make a 'garden'
  2. Place toy garden items and fruit pictures around the garden
  3. Add flower stickers to decorate the garden
  4. Talk about each item: 'God gave Adam and Eve beautiful flowers!' 'God gave them yummy fruit to eat!'
  5. Take turns naming things God gives us today (food, family, home, etc.)
πŸ”„ Variations:

Simpler: Focus on just naming the items in the garden and saying 'God gave this!'

Challenge: Have child sort items into categories like 'food gifts' and 'beauty gifts'

4Closing (3 min)

God loves to give His people good gifts! Just like He took care of Adam and Eve, He takes care of us too. Let's thank God for all His wonderful gifts.

πŸ“ Review Questions:
  • What gifts did God give Adam and Eve in the garden?
  • How does God take care of you?
πŸ™ Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for giving us so many good gifts! Thank You for our food, our home, and our family. Help us remember that You love to take care of us. Amen.

Coming up: Tomorrow in our BibleMouse lesson, we'll remember how God made everything perfect and good in the beginning!

Genesis 1:1

β€œGod made everything!”

β€” Genesis 1:1 (WEB)

🎯 Activity: Create a 'gift box' motion by cupping hands together, then opening them wide while saying the verse. Practice opening and closing the 'gift box' three times while repeating the verse.

Teaching Notes

πŸ“š Background:

Genesis 2:15-16 shows God's provision and care. The Hebrew word for 'freely eat' emphasizes God's generous abundance. This lesson helps children understand God as a loving provider.

πŸ’‘ Teaching Tips:
  • Let your child touch and explore the garden materials as you talk
  • Use excited, grateful tones when discussing God's gifts
πŸ€” Common Struggles:

Children this age may focus more on the physical items than the spiritual concept of God's provision

πŸ‘€ Signs of Understanding:

Child expressing thankfulness or recognizing that God gives good things

Extension Activities

  • Go on a 'gift hunt' around your home, naming things God has given your family
  • Check your BibleMouse Resource Guide for additional printables about God's provision
