β€” Genesis 2:18 (WEB)

This verse shows us God's loving plan to give Adam a special friend and helper - Eve!

πŸ“¦ Materials Needed

  • play dough
  • paper dolls (or simple drawings of Adam and Eve)
  • your child's favorite stuffed animal or doll

Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse lesson! Yesterday we learned about Adam, the first person God made. Let's remember together - God made Adam with His very own hands! Today we'll discover the wonderful friend God made for Adam.

πŸ’ Review Question: Can you remember the name of the first person God made?
2Teaching (5 min)

After God made Adam, He looked at Adam and said something very important. God said, 'Adam needs a friend! Adam needs a helper!' So God made Adam fall into a very deep sleep - like the deepest nap ever! While Adam was sleeping, God made someone very special for him. God made Eve! When Adam woke up, he was SO happy! He had never seen another person before. 'Thank you, God!' Adam said. 'Now I have a friend!'

πŸ“Œ Key Talking Points:
  • God saw that Adam needed a friend and helper
  • God made Eve while Adam was sleeping
  • Adam was very happy to have Eve as his friend
πŸ’¬ Discussion Questions:
  • How do you think Adam felt when he first saw Eve?
  • Who are some of your special friends and helpers?
3Activity: Adam and Eve Story Theater (6 min)
storytelling

We'll act out the story of God making Eve using play dough and simple movements. Your child will help tell the story by being both the storyteller and the characters!

πŸ“ Instructions:
  1. Give your child play dough and help them make a simple figure for 'Adam'
  2. Have Adam 'fall asleep' (lay the figure down) while you tell how God made Adam sleep
  3. Together, make another play dough figure for 'Eve' while Adam 'sleeps'
  4. Wake up 'Adam' and have him 'meet' Eve - make happy voices for both characters!
  5. Let your child move the figures around as they become friends
πŸ”„ Variations:

Simpler: Use the paper dolls instead of play dough, or just use hand motions to act out sleeping and waking up

Challenge: Let your child retell the story back to you using the play dough figures, prompting them with questions

4Closing (3 min)

What a wonderful story! God knew exactly what Adam needed - a friend! God gives us friends and helpers too, just like He gave Eve to Adam. Let's thank God for the special people in our lives.

πŸ“ Review Questions:
  • What was the name of Adam's special friend?
  • Who made Eve for Adam?
πŸ™ Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for making Eve to be Adam's friend. Thank You for giving me friends and helpers too. Help me be a good friend to others. Amen.

Coming up: Tomorrow in our BibleMouse lesson, we'll learn about how God made YOU special - with your own eyes, nose, hands, and toes!

Genesis 1:1

β€œGod made everything!”

β€” Genesis 1:1 (WEB)

🎯 Activity: Use hand motions: Point up to God, then spread arms wide for 'everything!' Practice 3 times with big, happy voices!

Teaching Notes

πŸ“š Background:

This lesson introduces the concept of companionship and God's care for our social needs. At PK3 level, focus on the friendship aspect rather than marriage. The story emphasizes God's thoughtfulness in providing what we need.

πŸ’‘ Teaching Tips:
  • Emphasize the friendship aspect - 'God gave Adam a friend!'
  • Use your child's name when talking about friends: 'God gives [child's name] friends too!'
  • If your child asks about marriage, simply say 'Adam and Eve became a family'
πŸ€” Common Struggles:

Some children may wonder why Adam was sleeping or may want to focus on the 'rib' detail from other versions - keep it simple with 'God made Eve while Adam was sleeping'

πŸ‘€ Signs of Understanding:

Child can identify Eve as Adam's friend, shows understanding that God provides what we need, engages with the story through play

Extension Activities

  • Look through family photos together and talk about the friends and helpers God has given your family
  • Check your BibleMouse Printables Library for Adam and Eve coloring pages to reinforce the lesson
  • Read a simple picture book about friendship from your BibleMouse Read-Aloud Library recommendations
