β€” Genesis 1:25 (WEB)

This verse shows us that God made every single kind of animal - from tiny bugs to big elephants - and He was happy with what He made because He loves all His creatures.

  • animal toys or stuffed animals
  • animal picture cards
  • cotton balls
  • construction paper

Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to our final BibleMouse lesson about animals this week! Let's remember all the amazing animals we've learned about. Can you make the sound of a cow? How about a lion's roar?

πŸ’ Review Question: What big, strong animals did we learn about yesterday in the jungle?
2Teaching (5 min)

This week we learned that God made SO many different animals! He made fuzzy farm animals like sheep and cows. He made big jungle animals like elephants and lions. And you know what? God loves every single one of them! The Bible tells us in Genesis 1:25 that 'God made the animals of the earth after their kind... God saw that it was good.' God was so happy when He made all the animals!

πŸ“Œ Key Talking Points:
  • God made animals that live on farms - cows, sheep, horses, and pigs
  • God made animals that live in jungles - lions, elephants, monkeys, and zebras
  • God takes care of all His animals because He loves them
πŸ’¬ Discussion Questions:
  • What's your favorite animal that God made?
  • How do you think God takes care of the animals?
3Activity: God's Animal Parade (6 min)
review

Create a fun parade reviewing all the animals God made this week, sorting them into farm and jungle categories while celebrating God's creativity.

πŸ“ Instructions:
  1. Gather all your animal toys and picture cards in the center of the room
  2. Make two 'homes' using construction paper - one labeled 'Farm' and one 'Jungle'
  3. Take turns picking an animal and deciding if it belongs on the farm or in the jungle
  4. As you place each animal in its home, say 'God made [animal name] and God loves [animal name]!'
  5. Finish by having all the animals 'parade' around while you march and sing about God making everything
πŸ”„ Variations:

Simpler: Just focus on sorting 4-5 familiar animals, letting child hold and pet each one while you say 'God made this cow!'

Challenge: Add animal sounds and movements - have child act like each animal as they sort them, or try to remember what each animal gives us (cow gives milk, sheep gives wool)

4Closing (3 min)

What a wonderful week learning about God's animals! Let's remember that God made every animal - big and small, fuzzy and smooth, quiet and loud. He loves them all and takes care of them every day.

πŸ“ Review Questions:
  • Can you name one farm animal God made?
  • Can you name one jungle animal God made?
πŸ™ Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for making so many wonderful animals! Help us remember that You love and take care of all Your creatures. Amen.

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll start learning about the very first person God made - a man named Adam!

Genesis 1:1

β€œGod made everything!”

β€” Genesis 1:1 (WEB)

🎯 Activity: Have your child march around the room like different animals (stomp like elephants, hop like bunnies, roar like lions) while saying the verse. End by throwing hands up high and shouting 'God made everything!' with joy.

Teaching Notes

πŸ“š Background:

This review lesson helps solidify the week's learning about God as Creator of animals. At this age, children learn through repetition and hands-on experiences, so don't worry if they can't remember everything perfectly.

πŸ’‘ Teaching Tips:
  • Let your child lead in choosing which animals to talk about - follow their interests
  • Use lots of expression and excitement in your voice when talking about God's creation
  • If child gets wiggly, incorporate more movement and animal actions
πŸ€” Common Struggles:

Some children may get overwhelmed trying to remember all the animals from the week. Focus on just 2-3 favorites if needed.

πŸ‘€ Signs of Understanding:

Child shows excitement about animals, attempts to name animals God made, or shows care/gentleness when handling animal toys

Extension Activities

  • Take a nature walk and look for any animals outside - birds, squirrels, insects - and remind child that God made these too
  • Check out the BibleMouse Resource Guide for additional animal-themed coloring pages and activities to extend the learning
  • Read a favorite animal book together and talk about how God made each animal special and different
